Mick Gentleman, MLA
Mick was born in Canberra and has never seen the need to call another place home. Mick began his education at Ainslie Primary and completed his secondary education at Canberra High. Over the years, Mick has continued his education through Canberra TAFE and has completed work related studies in Industrial Relations, Information Technology, Communications and Law.
Mick has worked in various occupations as a motor mechanic, postman, public servant, real estate agent, security officer, small business owner and project officer. Mick has worked in the office of Prime Ministers Hawke and Keating as the their security officer. When Federal Government was lost to the Coalition, Mick realized it was time to take a more active role in the Australian Labor Party and has worked within the party to promote its values of social justice and equity for all in our community.
Mick Gentleman is 51 years old and has 3 grown children (2 sons and 1 daughter) of whom he is very proud. Being an active member of the ALP, he has served on many committees, he currently holds the position of Chair of the ACT Assembly, Planning and Environment Committee and Deputy Chair of The Standing Committee on Education, Training and Young People. He is also chair of the Select Committee on Working Families in the ACT.
Mick has passionate views about the environment, aged care accommodation, working families and sport. It is through these passions and interests Mick Gentleman fulfils his vision for all Canberrans to “ be involved”.
