Introduction
We hope you have come to this page just to see what we've got to
say, however, if you are having problems moving around our pages
or finding what you're after, these notes should help. If you still
encounter problems please e-mail our webkeeper
and we will do whatever we can to assist.
Navigation
The major navigation components are the main navigation bar, the
location bar and icons. In addition there are text links at the
bottom of all pages and return to top of the page buttons on all
longer pages.
Pages which are a section of a multi-part document will display
which section you are currently in and back and forward buttons
to allow movement through the entire document.
The navigation bar
This bar will indicate which section of the site you are
currently in and allow you to move to the top level sections of
the site.
Action - the place to join the ALP and to give us some feedback
People - details on the ALP's parliamentary and administrative
teams
Media - the place to find media statements, speeches, feature
articles and interviews
Policy - Labor's plans for first decade of the new century
About - full details about the ALP, including contact details
and our history and achievements
The location bar - Version 4 browsers only
This
bar will expand as you move through the site and down from the home
page, providing details of the current directory and page title.
The bar is also clickable, allowing you to move back to any level
of the site.
Icons
The icons under the map on the right hand
side of all main pages will take you to feature sections of the
site.
Browser based navigation functions
Some of the
more powerful navigation aids are included in your browser. These
include the Back button, access to a back function by right clicking
in some browsers and keyboard shortcuts. For example in Internet
Explorer the backspace key acts as a back function. In both Explorer
and Netscape Navigator Alt + the left arrow key wll take you back
one page, Alt + the right arrow key forward one page.
Printing
A printer friendly page icons appear on all pages of the site.
This icon allows you to print all sections of the current document.
Clicking on the icon will take you to a version of the current
page or group of pages which will print black on white with no unneccessary
HTML. Once you have printed the page/s required it is necessary
for you to use the back button on your browser to return to the
original page.
Browser Compatibility
This site has been designed to offer full functionality in all
version 4 and above browsers at a screen resolution of 640 X 480
and above. Version 3 browsers should provide an acceptable viewing
experience with good navigation, however, some of the more advanced
navigation features may not be available. Visitors using text only
browsers should be able to navigate the site and view all content.
